My Team lets you live the dream of managing and driving for your own Formula 1 team. As the 11th team on the grid, the player will be making critical decisions and upgrades; while plotting their own path by creating a driver, choosing a teammate & team name, along with the badge and livery for their team. Advance Cards are how the player progresses through events and the different situations career mode throws at them. All the different types of cards are included within these images but here is a list briefly explaining what each one is.

- Formula 1 Race Weekends (progress to gameplay including practice, qualifying, sprint races and the Grand Prix)
- Pirelli Hot Laps (a new for F1 22 one-off invitational event which gives extra rewards, can be skipped if desired)
- Car Reveal (cinematic showcasing the new car's design)
- Sponsor Renewal (the player can accept up to 4 contracts in My Team based on their acclaim level for rewards, each has an expiry date)
- Contract renewals (negotiations in My Team are for your teammate, in Driver Career this is for the team you're racing with)
- Department Events (a situation from one of the different departments in My Team needs to be resolved)
- Season Break & End (time off with no races, or end of the season where the player receives a career overview & continues to next season)

This year with it being my first time working on an F1 game and coming at it with fresh eyes I spotted a few changes I would like to make to these cards to improve the user's experience. I updated these advance cards to be more consistent with each other, both the layout and applying the new styling seen across the game. First, I wanted to make better use of the space available on these cards by taking the small images that originally existed for things like the tracks and changing them to fill the background. Then to help the player quickly differentiate between the types of cards, without the need to read, I brought back the icons used in previous games and added them to the header element.

Speaking of reading, to help the readability of these cards I set to making text bigger across the board while making sure there are no overlapping elements when comes to localisation, this issue became most apparent on the sponsor & contract renewals cards. With the sponsor renewal in particular I reworked how the sponsors themselves were shown and laid out to avoid this issue. Even though this is just a small element of the My Team mode I am really happy with how these turned out when compared to last year's game.

While in this area of the game I also made a subtle update to the advance button, again to bring consistency to this area of the game. I updated it to follow the same icon styling and layout found on the other tile buttons in F1 22. With this one though I also needed to make sure my changes would still allow for animation of the icon when advancing through the timeline. You can see more on my updates to these types of tiles throughout F1 22 by checking out the rest of the projects within my portfolio.
